Certificate Review: MySQL for Data Analytics by AnalystBuilder
Introduction
I recently finished the MySQL for Data Analytics course offered by AnalystBuilder and I have some thoughts.
Background
While I don't use SQL on a daily basis in my current role, I would say I have solid experience performing data analysis in SQL. This course served as a refresher and helped ground my existing knowledge and fill in the cracks of anything I may have missed in my prior experiences.
About the Course
The course offers a comprehensive learning experience designed to equip you with practical SQL skills, geared towards data analysis. The course includes guided projects that provide hands-on experience with data analysis concepts like data cleaning and exploratory data analysis. You'll learn how professionals use MySQL in real-world scenarios, including topics like staging and production databases, naming conventions, and other essential industry practices. By the end of the course, you'll have a good foundational understanding of SQL and will have gained the expertise to perform solid data analysis. Some advanced SQL topics are also covered, such as Window Functions and Regular Expressions. Overall, the course is structured with 68 lessons, approximately 11 hours of content, and includes 17 practice questions and 4 projects to put your learning into practice.
Is it worth it?
It depends. Do you already use SQL on a daily basis? You're good already. Need to brush up after a long break from SQL? Definitely wouldn't hurt. Absolute beginner? This is perfect for you.
